Home Big Breakfast Day 2011

BBD 2010 saw over 20 Breakfasts across the city in homes and halls. Since then Christians across the Oxford area have been meeting regularly to pray for their streets. In 2011 we hope to build on this, and invite people from a wider area to take part. We encourage you to pray now, that there will be a prayer fellowship in your street or area. The 2011 BBD will be similar in format to that in January 2010 so please see this page and also register to find out what happens and be kept informed.

UPDATE 20th August 2010:

"I'm very pleased they knocked on my door that morning", said pensioner Phyllis Merriman, who attended the first Edgeway Road Prayer Breakfast in September 2007. She said that she had not been to church for fifty years! She is now a very happy member of the local Christian community. Please click here for other testimonials

Why hold regular prayer breakfasts - Real or Virtual relationships?

Rhidian Brook, writer and broadcaster, recently commented on "Thought for the Day" that the need to belong was being met in a virtual but not real way by sites such as facebook. He talks about needing "real face time", and "in the end I would rather see someone's true face than the one people want me to see". We should create opportunity to "see face to face". How much time do we devote to getting to know people "face to face"? How much time do we spend in the real world and how much "looking through a glass or computer screen" rather than "seeing face to face"? For the whole podcast click here.

Big Breakfast Day 2011
Even our church relationships can be quite "virtual" if we meet every Sunday but don't connect much outside of our classroom style meetings. Streetprayer exists to help Christians develop real relationships with each other and with those who live in our neighbourhoods. In 2010 we hope to build on the foundation of last year's event, which took place in about 20 locations across the Oxford area. The date for this 5th February 2011.

We will be holding a prayer breakfast on Saturday 18th September at 9am at the URC building 352 Marston Road, Marston, OX3 0JB to launch and pray for the event. Please let us know if you can come, but if not just come along.
