FORTHCOMING EVENTS: (Last updated 5th February 2012)
2012:
Saturday 10th March 9am - Oxford UK: New Marston prayer breakfast at
the Somerset, 241, Marston Road, Marston, Oxford OX3 0EN
How to become part of Streetprayer:
Stage 1: Take two minutes to register. We will then design a poster for your street that can be edited for any future events. Your area will also appear on our online map and you will be able to email and be emailed by members living nearby and can advertise your events in the comments box. (NB all personal details including email address, house number and street name are kept private and will not be displayed.) It will be like sowing a seed which "Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches” (Matt 13:31,32). Start praying now and the seed will germinate and grow!
Stage 2: Display your poster in your window, church building, newsagents or elsewhere. This will alert people in your area and help you find others to pray with. Ideally download and forward the PDF to a local printer and print as many A2, A3 and A4 copies as you can display. Please email us if you need help to do this.
Stage 3: Pray together with your neighbours.
Stage 4: Organise together an event to invite people to. Register and log in for editable posters, flyers and a suggested program. Please let us know what you're doing and we'll post your details on the website, together with any posters you design.
Stage 5: We need workers in all areas: prayer, evangelism, administration, website, etc, so if you believe the Lord is calling you to help us please email.
We encourage you to start planning soon so as give as much lead-in time as possible. However small the seed you plant, it can be like the one talked about here: Jesus said “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches.” (Matt 13:31,32)
May the Lord bless and transform the area you live in!
Imagine visiting each household on your street and inviting all the residents to a prayer breakfast! That's how streetprayer began on September 15th 2007 on Edgeway Road, Oxford, UK. We discovered many Christians on our street; twenty people came to the breakfast. It was a tremendous blessing. It was like planting a grain of mustard seed "which is the smallest seed you plant in the ground. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds of the air can perch in its shade.” (Mark 4:31,32)
First please register to become part of the team. You will then be able to view our on line map
and list of postcodes of those registered to see if there are any streetprayer members living
near you.

Life on your street!
Our dream is to see on our streets the wonderful joy experienced when the Church was first born,
as expressed in Acts 2: "All the believers were together.....They broke bread in their homes and ate
together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the
Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. "
How it started
Imagine visiting each household on your street and inviting all the residents to a prayer breakfast!
That is how streetprayer began on September 15th 2007 on Edgeway Road, Oxford, UK.
There are about 100 houses on the street. A simple letter was produced and with the support of local churches, teams of two people visited every house. Now there are over 25 people meeting every month for breakfast, prayer and praise! We are deeply grateful to God for what has happened. It's hugely strengthened our faith to see God's love and goodness spreading to every household in the road. We also hold weekly prayer meetings and a weekly meal inviting different residents each time.
Inviting people to a meal is something Jesus Christ encouraged us to do: “Jesus said to his host, “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbours; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” (Luke 14:12-14)
Neighbouring streets
For our first anniversary we gave letters to about 500 households on the neighbouring streets, inviting them to a prayer breakfast in a local Scout Hall. About 40 people came, including two local councillors and the community policeman! Now people are joining in from about 10 streets surrounding ours. As new people move in, we welcome them into the area. Please see the testimonials page for comments.
Plant a seed and watch it grow
We're all busy, so even if you are not sure about committing yourself to regular meetings, just to find out who lives on your street and meet other Christians living locally is a great blessing. Imagine being able to say hello and exchange prayer requests each day. This alone is a huge step forward.
You'll find that just meeting once will mean that you get to know many Christians in your area. It will be like planting "a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air perched in its branches."
Getting started
If you would like to join us, please read the "registration" page and fill in the form. You will then be able to find other users and also have access to our editable posters and other material.
Our vision:
"To pray for each household on the street"
"To see God's praises sung on every street"
"To support and care for one another in love"
"To care for people on the street in practical ways, that they would experience the love of God and join together with us"
All streetprayer workers are voluntary, but publicity costs are considerable. If you'd like to help with the costs of streetprayer, it would be greatly appreciated and help the initiative to grow. Please visit the donate page.
Please start praying for the street and area where you live to catch fire!God bless you!
The streetprayer team.
