2012:
January 23rd: "
I love this idea. We had our first prayer meeting last night - it was great!" Nina de Salis Young, Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire.

Big Breakfast Day Saturday 4th February 2012:
"Thank you for your prayers. Four people came to the breakfast, and I had three apologies from ones who would have liked to come, but couldn't manage that day. I felt very encouraged and when  I went to church the next day, someone asked me about it and was enthusiastic about developing this idea in our area. I'm aiming to have another one on 21st April and will exend the invitation a bit further." - Beth Knowles, Banbury Road, North Oxford

"We're now in our fifth year of holding breakfasts or other events once a month and this Saturday's was a great delight and surprise!  Of the 45 or so present there were about 10 new people from the Marston area, some who don't yet belong to any congregation. The spirit of love, praise and prayer was very touching. We hope to build on this in the months to come." - Marcus Roberts, Marston, Oxford.

City Councillors:
'The streetprayer groups are doing a wonderful job in bringing people together, and celebrating what we have as a community. I was privileged to be invited to a prayer breakfast a few months ago and was struck by the warmth and peace of the meeting. As a local councillor, building strong communities is something I am passionate about. The prayer breakfasts draw people together as neighbours and build up a sense of belonging in a spiritual way beyond  religious denomination or politics. I hope that they will continue to grow and thrive'.
- Mary Clarkson, Lord Mayor of Oxford 2009/10

"The streetprayer groups are doing a great job of bringing people together from different churches in community to pray for their areas. In a day when too few people know their neighbours they are also helping to maintain the community spirit in New Marston. It was a pleasure to attend one of the meetings earlier in the year.
- Councillor Beverley Hazell

After the first launch in September 2007:
“I have been living on Edgeway Road for 10+ years. All this time I did not feel a sense of belonging to or purpose for the street where I live. The prayer breakfast has opened up a door through which I have not only shared a meal with my neighbours but also prayer and conversation on matters that concern each individual.”
-  Evan Roberts, student

“As a visiting student from America, I had a lot on my mind when I arrived in Oxford, like “Would I make friends?” During my first week, a time when I was feeling very much alone in a strange country, I saw a flyer for the Edgeway Rd. Prayer Breakfast. I started going to the meetings which led to me making some wonderful friendships. It was great being able to greet my neighbours when I saw them on the street."
- Emma Hughes, American student

“Travelling out of the area to work meant I didn't know many of my neighbours, unless it was through the school. It has been lovely to get to know people who live 'down the road' and share a meal and pray together.”
- Clare Leal

“I only started coming to the prayer breakfast in Edgeway road 2 months ago. I was surprised by the open, welcoming atmosphere. These were people with a heart for their community, people that wanted to put their faith into practice, break the anonymity amongst the residents in their street. I am so intrigued by the idea that I want to start the same prayer initiative where I live - in Ferry Road.”
- Jan Sassenberg, charity worker

"I'm 83 now and getting around is more difficult. Meeting people on the street and singing praises together has been such a joy."
- Phyllis Merriman, pensioner

First Big Breakfast Day 2010:

PROGRAMME FOREWORD BY CHARLIE CLEVERLY, Rector of St Aldates.
"Love Oxford welcomes the Streetprayer initiative as a breathtakingly simple way to get to know other Christians in your street (unity) and to get to intercede for the Oxford area (prayer).
I pray that these two keys - unity and prayer - would turn in Oxford's locks, and the flood of revival would flow! God loves Oxford and has a plan for her for good and to give her a future and a hope. But it seems in history He waits for heart unity and he waits for prayer.
I pray that this Jan 30 prayer initiative is fun and also fruitful".
Charlie Cleverly on behalf of Love Oxford.

"Today is the first Big Breakfast event. For me it's wonderful to be part of something that I know that God wants. To see Christians in all areas meet together and know who our neighbours are, and who our fellow Christians are."
- Jason Luff, student

It's marvellous! Two or three people, ten or twenty, it will be wonderful because God is going to be here amongst us."
- Mark Macau

"It's a really good opportunity that we have as Christians to be together as one Church." Veronica Rodriguez, Argentine student

"I never really used to say hello to that many neighbours, except for my immediate ones, but now I know lots of people on the street."
- Stephen Roberts, Meteorologist

"I live on my own. I love people and company. I also like singing hymns, so I enjoy it very much. I'm very pleased they knocked on my door that morning"
- Phyllis Merriman, pensioner

"Streetprayer is important to me because it's all about building community, and community with God as the centre"
- Lorna Smith, Chemistry lecturer, Oxford University.

"We've seen people coming along who maybe haven't been to church for a very long time, and have been able to reconnect with other Christians through the prayer breakfasts."
- Dave Leal, Theology and Philosophy lecturer, Oxford University.

Other testimonials:
"I really enjoy meeting new people at the street breakfasts, it's refreshing and is creating a more caring community based on helping each other."
- Steve Gibbs, businessman

"Being new in the area, I was looking to be a part of my neighbourhood and when I heard about Streetprayer, it was a prayer answered. It's such an amazing work and better still, God is in it 100%." Caroline Wachui, Grandpont

Streetprayer in Cowley:
We moved into Bailey Road, Cowley three years ago and wanted to start developing friendships and making a difference in our community. We had heard about Street Prayer at Love Oxford and thought this would be a great opportunity for us. We held our first Prayer Breakfast in January 2009 and to date have held four of them. We called on all our neighbours personally and it became obvious from this that there was a need for a closer community. We never received any adverse comments even though we live on a multi-racial and multi-faith street. We also placed a notice board in our garden to advertise the events and this has proved to be very popular.
The Prayer Breakfasts have been a great time and we have become friendly with many people on our street. We have also helped to organise a Street Party in August 2010 which brought all the community together. At Christmas 2010 the Salvation Army band came to our street and we sang carols and shared mince pies, mulled wine etc. It was a great time and the Prayer Breakfast was the trigger that started all this.
- Malcolm & Lin Anderson
